That Blameless Little Fellow Poem by Francis Duggan

That Blameless Little Fellow

The Prime Minister of Australia by the Aussie voters empowered
You know the bloke I'm on about his name is Sir John Howard
Though the Sir is yet not ratified by her majesty his queen
It would seem a mere formality you must know what I mean.

The man who could not say 'sorry' he tells the people now
That the soaring price of motor fuels is beyond him somehow
He says the blame is with the big fuel companies it's got nothing to do with me
Though he is careful not to mention tax on fuel or his pet the G S T.

But what would John Howard know of the motorist who to work drives many miles each day
When for his and his Cabinet colleagues petrol it's the tax payers who pay
To the privileged politician everything in life is free
And that he blames the big fuel companies seems a cop out to me.

For the hike in petrol prices you must not blame Sir John Howard
That blameless little fellow that the people have empowered
And though the title Sir not yet ratified by her majesty supreme
It is just a mere formality for a favour done 'twould seem.
