That Dress Poem by Jay Pierce

That Dress

She wore the dress that I bought her.
The dress that I wanted to take her out in;
because I told her she looked so beautiful in it.
She wore that dress to meet him.

Who is he?
Why is he all of a sudden so important to her?

She could of hung out with anyone tonight;
but she decided to hang out with him,
wearing that dress.

When she got sick I devoted myself to helping her.
3 and a half years devoted to comforting her.

I asked her if she could ease into friendships;
and going out again.

She chose to go out with him;
wearing that dress.
Without telling me where she was going;
or when I could expect her home.

She was out 5 hours;
in that dress with him easing into it,
easing us back into it.

It's now 1: 14am.
