That First Crush Poem by Mbietjita Kamukuendjandje

That First Crush

The sun shines yellow; sometimes blue
Perhaps mine is the only one that shines you
And although the sun is very bright
You seem to be my only light

The wind might blow seasons away
But by you is where I wish to stay
As people complain about harmful rays
I thankfully count my joyful days

Faces come and then they go
Yours I perfectly want to know
Because I adore you so
Even thou this feeling comes slow

If this is all in vain
Just imagine the pain
But I wish to see you again
For with you I want to remain

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A walk down memory lane. That moment when you first realized that girls and boys are different, when all you could think of was him/her. When his/her face seemed to appear in what seemed like everything! But then you were the junior and he/she was that senior everybody noticed... Or he/she was in your grade but differed in feeling while you made so much effort!
