Thatpasses By

In distressing moments
why do I remember
my father's sobing heart in the pyre
-I don't know,
why do I remember the bird
whose wings are cut off
-I don't know,
why do I remember those
little ones in the dried up pond
-I don't know,
And now I feel somebody
ascending through the midnight's hills
chanting a hymn in trembling voice
with folded palms.

It is a helpless thirst of a sad soul
That passes by

It is a depressed heart-
wounded by untrue words-
That passes by

It is an affection-
which embraced the boatman
who was once a classmate-
That passes by

It is a shadow-
which transformed a cursed stone
into a beauty-
That passes by

It is the pervasive soul-
that wails remembering a brother
who sacrificed himself
in order to keep a promise-
That passes by

It is that great physician-
who squeezed some green leaves
and dribbled into my wounds-
That passes by.

He knows the whole
but there remains a pain in him
-Still Why the most dear ones subjected me
to such a long period of darkness.

He knows the whole
yet roams in a labyrinth
- - Still how and why my beloved soul left me
and lowered herself into the depths.

- - - - - -
