That Quiet Corner Poem by Calvin Okwalinga

That Quiet Corner

I prefer that one corner,
that little quiet corner:
as a crowd of thoughts bulge
thudding against the walls of my cranium;
as rivers of emotions flood, tearing past the very meaning of my existence,
I prefer that quiet corner

As my mind screams out for the surrender to the desire of my heart,
my ego dictating the definitions of those very emotions I design,
before I define the courage I long for
to look in those breath-taking, addictive eyes;
I prefer that quiet corner

As I wipe your tears
or be the courage to your fears
before I hold you in the warmth of my embrace
or be the rock and pillar for your weakness
I prefer that quiet corner
because from that quiet corner
I can see you, I can understand
but most importantly.....
in that quiet corner, everything seems to fade
and you can see me.
