The 1st Of May - Poem by Larisa Rzhepishevska

The 1st of May,
It’s a Solidarity Day.
I will not shout “Hurray”
But would like to say
For all peoples and nations
Join together! Live in peace!
In America and Greece,
In Iraq and Iran,
In India and Pakistan,
In China and Hong Kong
And so on and so on.
The history of this day is very significant one:
The workers of Chicago
Went on demonstration
For their rights.
They didn’t want any fights.
Today in my country
The 1st of May is a holiday.
We do not shout “Hurray”
As there is nothing to demonstrate.
But we love and celebrate this day
As it personify humanity and peace,
Beauty of our nature
And life as a wonderful adventure.
