The 99 Percent Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Until the 99
learn to organize
the 1 percent
will continue
to furiously fight
to keep its ill-gotten gains.
Until the 99 realize
that unity is the path
to free ourselves
from ourselves
then history
will be replicated
and nothing will change.
Until the 99 get a sense of fun
and not mere political drudgery
a movement will not form.
Self-righteousness is not fun
and nobody will join
or sacrifice
after all, self-righteousness is irritating.
Until the 99 see themselves truly as the 99
they will be millions of one's
and powerless.
