The Absolutely Inevitable Poem by Cornelis Rudolf van Schalkwyk

The Absolutely Inevitable

To die
or not to die
is not a question
but rather, in fact a lie

To pass from this place
for better or for worse
is inevitably in our path
our greatest single curse

How to avoid it?
you may ask
how to skip
or make it pass?

The answer, i fear
you will despise:
You cannot flee
your sure demise

But do Not fear
and do Not cower
for to change the future
is in your power!

The final destination
is not your choice
but the path you take
is by your voice

A life of adventure
wealth and fame
but just a single mishap
and it's never the same

The path we take
is our own making
let it be joyful
never forsaken

The path you take
will be etched i stone
as the second pass
one by one

Do Not Falter
Do Not wait
write a tale
with your uncertain fate

Be remembered
Honored 'n' Praised
etch it in stone
then have it glazed

for Your death
you cannot escape
except to prepare
and die
