The Absurd Normalcy Inside The Mind Of My Dreaming Imagination Poem by Eli J Tod

The Absurd Normalcy Inside The Mind Of My Dreaming Imagination

Tussling my hair with a towel releasing whiffs of sweet shampoo
Open the door to the hallway
Feeling
Calm, Refreshed
Sirens in the distance, steadily coming closer
Mild concern turns to panic when tires screech at the front of the house
A Race down the hall to See
My near and dear, those close to my Heart…
Breath comes short
They are at My door.
The door to My room.
People, frenzied yet methodic
I inch my way in to see the drama Unfolding
Light bulbs flash capturing the scene
Today’s horror is Tomorrow’s headline
My eyes see all.
Foam escaping too pale lips, eyes wrenched back
Unseeing
A young girl’s body in the Violent throws of Death
As I take it in, I feel myself start to
Dissipate
Already I was invisible
My towel drops
Slow like a petal
To the floor
I am already
Gone.
