The Abyss Poem by Scarlett Irvine

The Abyss

My world is unraveling
I don't know what to do
My heart is scavenging
For just one ounce of you
I am sullen
I am blue
These once pink lips
No more salivate...no
I saw you today
And you touched me with a lie
To gird me with your sacred wing
But even Lucifer was a king
Here upon the earth
A prince with power
Levitating in whispers
A vagabond scouring the shores
Then back again, a shadow by the throne
How you snap into place and
Resurrect your cratered forms.
But there is no serenity
No pristine fountain
Glistening before the fawn
Before tablets of cuneiform.
You drown the one who loved me
I see it vanishing
On the surface of the waters
Wrinkling with the wind
You wither into darkness
Where the light does bend
And the one scaled of sapphire
He lurks
Agape...his cavern rows
He engulfs
Splintered down in pitchforks
In night he is the stairway
His terror the abyss
