The Agony Of A Prey Poem by Adookorn Auaduma

The Agony Of A Prey

The cry of a mouse trapped the snare
does not entice
the favour of predator
to free her
even if her yearning for freedom,
the full moon on cloudless sky

The ruckus of parrot held in the cage
of predator
does not provoke empathy
to free her
even if her noise occlude
predator's ear

The euphony of Robin caught
in entangled web
does not evoke pathos
to set her free
even if her sweet melody
tickle ear

There is no sand blast terrain
this way --
thorny
is the road to free rein--
aboard lightning and thunder blast
we navigate stormy sky to grow quill

cos
predator does feel the agony of a prey--

The cry of mouse,
dewdrop on damask steel;
the ruckus of parrot, a piece
of paper in wild wind

And the melody of robin,
a song
of passing in the thundery
wind of predator

Let me cut my mouse leg in his trap
and flee;
it's safer with one leg
in freedom
than the whole body in a trap

Let me break the cage with my beak
of parrot, flee and stop noise;
it's safer with a broken beak
in freedom than my whole body
trapped in a cage

Let me untwine web with my robin bill
and flee the web; it's safer to stay
mute in freedom
than to sing in entangled web

Cos
I know, predator does not feel
the agony of a prey.
