The Ancestors' Request. Poem by Naser Arafat

The Ancestors' Request.

Rating: 3.5

Kids, you are too lucky, chaps
You people have Peter pan;
We didn't have him and perhaps
We grownups needed Iron man.
So we just invented God.

Kids when you fight for small toy cars,
You do such an innocent deed;
But our friends fought fatal wars
By virtue of humanly greed.
So we just invented God.

Kids you are too brainy guys:
By you every fraud is sensed.
But our friends were not that wise,
They could be easily tensed.
So we just invented God.

Kids but we should apologize
for we didn't know that time would cause
These beliefs to materialize.
We wanted to make some laws,
So we just invented God.

Kids we are totally whirled;
Can you make everything new?
You people can change the world
That is why we request you:
Can you just terminate God?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Our Ancestors somehow learn about the unfortunate events which have been taking place on the earth in the name of God after their departure. They come back from wherever they are, speak to the kids of today and reveal to them, the truth that they had invented God and the reasons behind them doing so. They request them to terminate God as the beliefs have materialized now.
