The Angel Poem by karanjeet lakhanpal

The Angel

Rating: 5.0

Dedicates this to some
dear people recently
put through the
fire. Knowing they hold
their heads even higher now...

The evil ones abused an angel,
They tore out that heart and scarred that soul,
This is that story that I tell,
About that angel:

It is so sad; the halo's bent,
They've broken both the wings,
The skin has lost it's golden shine,
the voice raspy now when it tries to sing,

The glimmer in the eyes is gone,
The smile is now a frown,
The tears they fall just like rain,
As the angel walks with head down,

The angel stops and looks up at the sky,
At stars so far away,
Then proceeds to bow the head,
And begins to pray:

'Oh dear Lord, hear my cry,
Look at me and see,
Have I done something wrong,
For them to destroy me?

Did you put me on the earth,
To be used in such a way?
To be hurt for no reason,
Each and every day,

I used to try to hold them back
I did with all my might,
But now I have just given up,
I don't even try to fight,

I'm to weak to go on Lord,
What am I to do?
I can't stand this hurt and pain,
And torment I go through,

I beg you, Lord, to hear my prayer,
This prayer I've prayed before,
Just answer me this one question,
Why do they hurt me for? '

The angel finishes the prayer,
And says a quick thank you
Then the tears begin to flow,
and fall like rain again.

It seems prayers are never heard,
That's why the angel is so confused,
Oh God, why don't you answer?
This Angel so abused.
