The Art Of The Cliche Poem by Nichole Kaci McKnight

The Art Of The Cliche

A well crafted cliché can express exactly how we feel.
Just like a good salesman knows the art of the deal.
Another cliché advises us that an apple a day can keep the doctor away.
Did you know even William Shakespeare wrote using an occasional cliché.
Its' the darkest before the dawn, a poet once wrote.
Everyone knows it's not very good to rock the boat.
When you use a cliché you may be barking up the wrong tree.
A cliché is the exception that proves the rule for you and me.
A well crafted cliché can even make you hot under the collar.
I'd bet a dollar to donuts a cliché can even make us holler.
A great writer can be armed to the teeth with a cleaver cliché.
I'm on a roll about the subject of clichés to everyone’s dismay.
If you use too many clichés you push your luck.
Why do most of us like to pass the buck?
You can always quote a well known cliché, but actions speak louder than words.
If the pen is always mightier than the sword, a trite cliché can be for the birds.
