The Ballad Of The Sheep Poem by Michael S...

The Ballad Of The Sheep

Rating: 4.0

'We need some kind of leadership'
Cried the herd of sheep
'We must not let ourselves
stay oppressed the way we are'
The sheep looked all around
For one strong enough to lead
And although every last one had called
Not one had stepped up
Plans had been made
And spirits heigtened so
But scattered wall fragments
Cannot stop typhoon
'And what will become of our sheep race
If not one of you musters up the courage needed'?
'We will be fine, please worry not
For our spirit will bear us through'
But not once have I seen
Spirit stop a death
And nor did the sheep
Over-confident, un-organized
The sheep found their faults
For a typhoon, when started
Cannot be stopped
And the race of sheep
Became another thread in the blood-soaked canvas
The wolves parade into battle with
Yet few survived, even less had learned
Except that one
With his feeble voice he cried
'For you I live, and with you, I die'
