The Barrier Poem by Sumit Ganguly

The Barrier

Long barbed wire- rage- divides nations
imaginary line in the blue sky- fear- keeps nations alert
beyond the waves of shore,
a nation's hand of power keeps control,
subjects are squeezed,
rulers thump feet,
earth is divided in the name of nationalism.

Saints have preached love,
militants- revenge,
-isms tried their best.
We wait for a piper to ease our heat,
rage will succumb to logic, fear- to trust,
no more barriers,
logic and trust may be the basis of peace.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Nasarudheen Parameswaran 14 February 2017

Spider makes its own barriers. Selfishness of our DNA makes ours. So Chandokyopanishad said to Gods, men and Dasyus to be Self controlled, (Damyata): give to others(Datta): and show compassion(Dayathwa) respectively to have peace in our Wasteland(T.S Eliot quotes) .
