The Battle Of Life Poem by Catherine Shipman

The Battle Of Life

Beginning with a fresh start, take a deep breath
Smell the blood of the tenderfoots,
Change your heart from innocence to hate
The only path you will survive on is the
One where you pretend you don't care
If you fail they will tear, tear apart the things you love
Stone face and integrity, which one will you choose?
Play the part, work the scheme, tell the truth, open your pages;
One leads to death and the other to torture

Sink of swim, twist or die, if you falter you will fall
Choose your battles, stealth or tattles
Dig your grave or polish your armor
You can't be the same, you can't heal when you break
All you can do is grow around your Broken bones
And try to put your shattered pieces back together.

An insightful depiction of the never ending struggle of man, well articulated and nicely penned in good diction with conviction. Thanks for sharing Catherine.
