The Battle Within Everyone Rages Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Battle Within Everyone Rages

The battle within everyone rages—
The story of Adam and Iblis
is no tale to lull children to sleep.
It is fire and breath,
ancient and sharp as the first dawn.

This is no distant myth;
it pulses beneath your skin—
the quiet war waged
with every thought that strays from light.

Adam stands within you,
barefoot on the field of your heart.
Iblis waits at the gate—
his tongue soft as silk,
his whispers sweet with the honey of pride.

He bids you rise above your brothers,
to cast shadows long and dark.
He calls rebellion sweet,
urging you to crown yourself
with gold forged in deceit.

The Prophet said,
"Everyone carries a Satan within."
But he—
he made him submit,
knelt it before the light,
and broke its horns
with the hammer of truth.

And you—
will you rise today,
crack the chains binding your hands
to the heavy breath of your nafs?
Or will you swell like Abu Jahal,
stone-hearted and blind,
drowning in the river of your own illusions?

Will you walk the path of Sidiq,
where truth shines like the morning star,
or stray with those who mocked the prophets—
whose pride crumbled to dust
in the winds of divine command?

The choice hums in the quiet,
between one breath and the next.
Listen—
Adam waits for you.
Iblis does too.
