The Bells Are Chanting Poem by Mario Giron

The Bells Are Chanting

The Bells are chanting
Let all come the bells are chanting
Let us all come the requiem has begun
The Requiem has begun

All have come to see
Of I and my groom to be
Oh joyous mourning
It is time for me not to be
One step closer

Towards my bridegroom I glide
Ever closer, absent is the Divine
His seat is empty
He’s late he’ll arrive
Two steps closer

Look back towards my audience
Towards space and time
All faces with names
I cannot describe
Three steps closer

There! Oh Joy! In the crowd
My Lover
You promised eternity.
Will you not save me?
From my inevitable vows
Four steps closer

Hurry! Hurry!
My bridegroom is now beside me
Will not our love move mountains!
Tell the oceans to calm!
You promised all this
Yet you still do not move?
Prevent this wretched man from taking me!
The Final step

The priest begins
“Will cannot prevent this Holy Matrimony.”
