The Big Fight Poem by AMRITA MALLIK

The Big Fight

Tears on flushed faces,
Force of tight clutches,
Heat of the busy devices,

Burning eyes,
Gasps of warm sighs,
Running beats
of two clenched hearts.
Chocked throat, blocked nose,
Aching backs, paralysing legs

Hunger of missed meals follows up
Reeling of confused head lines up,

The ears,
Then hear
The first knock of,
The 'patch up thought'
But realization reveals,
Its too silly a reason
For which they fought.

Still clinging on tight,
They continue to fight
Till the battery is low to no more
Intervening short periods of silence surround
Rapidly rolling thoughts hover arround

Thoughtlessly, impulsively, involuntarily
Wet with the salty water,
From the 'swollen eyes river'
Gets again the gadget drenched
Gets softly dailed the number
Trin trin-trin goes once
lubb dupp, lubb dupp, lubb goes twice
And god is thanked thrice

An 'immediate meeting ' alert
Gets immediately raised; by the two voices
That try hard to be inert.

They meet; no matter
How hot the heat is!
How heavy the rain is!
How chilly the cold is!

He smiles, she smiles
They hug, and they snug,
Soon soothed to solace,
Still let the silence prevail
And allow apologies travel

Reverted are the harsh words
To a shower of tender love
Lost is the brisk beat,
In the sensation of the warm heat.
Lips smitten by an urge
Cozily for a surge
They call;
But let alone the curtains
Gently fall...
