The Birthday Moon Poem by Neelankana Y

The Birthday Moon

Rating: 4.5

As the sun shone in the west sky,
It got down with a tireful sigh
With it the evening started to grow,
And I was here - in the whole big show.

As the white clouds fainted by,
The evening too bid me goodbye!
As I lifted my eyes to the sky,
The moon was smiling there so high.

But he seemed to me more beautiful
I must say, then any other day
People often dress on specail occasions,
And I remembered that it was my birthday.

Even as I write, the wind so light,
Blows my hair and giggles me tight,
An unusual feeling I have in my heart,
Is there anyone who misses me hard?

What I wanted to write, I could not
For a mole of feelings have I today
As you know, every year I wait
For this day - Oh! it's my birthday.

It's strange to think, every year as a wink
Passes by and we cannot feel
But celebrate over the lessening of life
And come closer to the life's seal.

But the moon so low, Oh! I love you so,
How much and why I don't understand
You look so great, in sky's every shade
Is there some one like you in this land?

Oh beautiful night, you've come up right
At the place where there was evening kind
Today I saw, the nature's law
Of birth and parting in a fraction of time.

Tell me dear, is the change mere
A shifting of time and ordering it right;
Or is it that on every day,
One night is born and an evening dies?

Hereby the rules, someday I will
Also set down, like you pale moon,
Maybe I'll sink or I maybe ill,
But it would be an awaited boon.

I do not care what others may think,
Upon this inclination of dying of mine
They'll call me a looser, they'll call me vain,
But this is me, and this life is mine.

Yet I sometimes agree with above,
But truly do I feel,
This life is not alone of mine,
It's of my mother n some hearts divine.

Some people have invested their love in me,
The best days of their life the've given to me
That I could know the concepts of this life,
It's their grace and its their might.

However I am, some eyes are there
Who'll find me when I'm not there
And will descend some tears through them
And this is what I cannot bear. :)

(as for the moon....)

I saw you come, I see you go
The brightest white was your colour.
But as you go, your colour is pale
As you've confronted this world so low.

You remain as thin as a needle slim,
But I saw you then, I see you now.
Now you've gone, in the darkest cloud,
But I loved you then, I love you now.

Like a scar in the night sky you appear,
I can notice you, no one can now,
For the time you were with me you gave
A joy so good, a life so wow.

I know, I have downfall thoughts,
But still an instinct comes to me,
That you may not appear tomorrow but,
After this new moon, a new moon I'll see.
