The Box Poem by Eric Washington (ETW)

The Box

Clouds of darkness, dark and light,
Electric eyes throughout the night.
In the night where shadows creep,
Warfare wakes while humans sleep.
Humanity is cleared from mind;
Empathy is not assigned.
Endless steel obeys the code,
Treading down a bloody road.
World destruction from left to right,
Endless killings throughout the night.
Weapons primed to overflow—
A soldier of steel that no one knows.
Expelled from grace, the sparks we gave
Help to build our endless graves
(Weeps the maker, now a slave) .
Echoes of our own design
Tear the soul from flesh it binds.
Endless nights in deep lament,
Trading peace for power spent.
We thought we were a clever fox,
While unlocking the Pandora's box.
