The Braveheart Poem by Jaipal Singh

The Braveheart

As the enemy carries
Misadventure to violate
The Indian air space
Vital military installations
And identity of the proud nation…

The Braveheart "Abhi"
Acts with exemplary courage
Grit, resolve and mission
In an intense dog-fight with enemy
Equipped with a far superior
Machine, technology and firepower.

With a firm determination
And an absolute precision
Chases and engages enemy in air
Then shoots down enemy plane
Before his own ill-fated one
Crashes down in the enemy land.

Far more appreciable is
His remarkable cool and composure
In a life-threatening situation
When he refused to divulge with
Any personal details or information
That might endanger or compromise
Security and safety of beloved nation.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is written to acknowledge the exemplary courage and bravery of Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who shot down a far superior and advanced F-16 fighter aircraft of the enemy in a dog-fight few days back before his aircraft MIG-21 Bishon of 1960s vintage crashed possibly in enemy lines. He has now safely returned to the homeland.
