The Break Up Poem by Zoe Meyer

The Break Up

Oh thunderstorms and sunny days
Nondenominational and Mormon
Different in too many ways
Oh he had it comin’

Born together black and white
Capricorn and Sagittarius
Completely opposite at the sight
Put together was a mess

Mix them like water and oil
He was mad, so was she
Devious plans she did foil
And wouldn’t listen to his plea

She took jealousy; turned him green
He threatened to break up that night
He was mad for what he had seen
But she ended it before the break of light

Tears were shed, and tears did fall
Words were thrown as knives
A misunderstanding to them all
But now they can move on with their lives

I know it seems a tragic chapter
To end the story now
Oh, but if he could only capture
That things will be better off, somehow

I have great hope, as I bid you adieu
That we may again be friends
So I pray, on account of you
That we might make amends

I promise that I loved you then
But now that time has gone
I ask that you may forgive again
For a lost love is better than none
