The Brick Layer Poem by Kayla Daley

The Brick Layer

I pound the wall with this hammer
As the situation becomes more damnable
He is right on the other side
Why must he hide?
I watch his hands at the top of the wall
building the wall of bricks that is mountainously tall
He is shutting me out along with sound
He is afraid to let his guard down all around
Afraid of being hurt by me one day
But can't he see I am here to stay?
The pain stabs at my heart as the tears fall
I throw down my hammer and punch the wall
my hands are fighting and bleeding for the one I love
I scream to him above
Brick layer Brick layer tear down this barrier between us
I lightly touch the cold hard rock wall and whisper I love you
The wall dissolves into thin air and he says I wouldn't do this for anyone but you
And after weeks of being without him just like that He was again my Forever
The war was over as he kissed me and there was happiness abundant more than Ever
