The Burning Sword Poem by Adrian Max Rodman

The Burning Sword

My name means Fiery Sword
Blazen Brazen Forgotten
When I close my eyes I still see it

My name is Fiery Sword
I turn on and off
You put me in the flames and leave your enemies to rot

When I'm quiet I'm just a blade
On a wall or in a sheath
I can be a weapon

I remember being on fire
Slicing everything I saw
But one day that fire burned out

I was a burnt piece of metal
And that was all
I still see the images

I still see the images
I still remember my face
I remember crying everyday

I wore my parents' wedding band
And thought it was nice symbolism
I tarnished with a metal allergy and optimism

The fiery Sword is stable
But it doesn't work the same
It's so burnt it won't catch a flame

The flames just hurt
The fire just burns
The sword is now barely a weapon
