The Calling Poem by Wade Bouton

The Calling

Rating: 4.8

By the sea she sits
Gazing longingly for its embrace
Its touch and caress

Feeling the thunderous power of its waves
Crashing into the rocky cliffs of time
The spray of water reaching out to you

You feel it wash over your skin
Taste the salt on your lips
Feel a slight chill as your body reacts to its touch

You can feel it tugging at you
As it retreats from the land
Wanting you to return its embrace

But this day is not the one
That allows you to return
And you look away

From its beauty
Its fiery
Its relentless calling

And you walk away
Leaving only the chaos of life
As the sea cleanses your soul
And leaves you pure of heart.

Very nice! I like the descriptions of the waves, it seems so alive and real. The ending is so relieving- I feel like the character, a sense of cleansing, rinsed of all the trouble and ready to go back into the world.
