The Encounter Poem by Wade Bouton

The Encounter

The sun streams through her strawberry hair,
Wind tussles her tendrils causing her to look my way;

A satisfied smile crosses her lips,
Parting her mouth and grabbing my consciousness;

A melody escapes from her tongue,
Like a sweet song playing in my mind;

She reaches for me in that familiar way,
Her fingers crafted from God’s own hands;

A light touch caresses my heart,
Leaving an indelible imprint on my soul;

Closer to me she moves until we are one,
Our hearts beating for the other;

I breathe in her essence, rejuvenating my spirit,
And sharing the strength to go on,
To go forward into the unknown and fragility of life.
