I sought to be a lover crowned and blessed,
And poured my soul within the sacred shrine;
Yet broken vows became my noble quest,
As lonely shadows wept for what was mine.
I traded hymns of joy for songs of grief,
And wove a heavy shroud of dark despair;
Yet parting brought my spirit sweet relief,
To scatter pure, untainted passion there.
Across the desert wild I walk alone,
Where burning sands erase the steps I made;
The length of this grim road remains unknown,
Yet to this life, my deepest vows are paid.
Though love is lost, I sing its bitter grace,
And paint the scenes of life in my embrace.
