The class trip gave us thrills so deep,
A treasure of memories we'll always keep.
With facts and sights our minds did brim,
The ride back home was calm and slow,
But wonder still within did glow.
Take your seat, belt up, and stay calm,
I'll count you all - no need for alarm.
I did my part; they gave me a name:
"Arap Manamba! " - a tout, what shame!
That trip rewrote my job and fame!
I gathered funds for the class event,
Each gave with joy and good intent.
I did my part; they had a biblical claim;
"Zack Tax Us! " - my brand-new name.
From good deeds came this taxing fame!
'What is the ancient name for Kisii? '
'It is Bosongo! ' I said with pride and glee.
I did my part; they gave me a name:
"Man Bosongo" - I changed the fame.
From one old word, I grew their game!
My friend lost appetite for the banana,
But ate chips on me like a starved piranha!
I did my part; they were at it - no refrain
'El Chipoz! ' Really? Is that me again?
And now that name just won't abstain!
Why keep giving me strange names?
Why am I the spark for their playful games?
Am I a victim of my own popularity?
Must they use me in their wild hilarity?
Or is it love dressed in punk peculiarity?
By any other name in jest or jealousy,
I'm still their preferred prefect, you see.
Responsible, respectful, just and polite,
I'll wear the names with quiet might—
A rose, by any name, smells just as right.
