The Clock On Our Lives It Keeps Ticking Away Poem by Francis Duggan

The Clock On Our Lives It Keeps Ticking Away

The clock on our lives it keeps ticking away
And for many today it will be their last day
Time for anyone of us does not seem to wait
And on each one of us there is a use by date
The longer we live the sooner we will die
A wise one said that one far wiser than I
And though the longest human life in time is not a very long span
Most do want to live for as long as they can
Yet some who are torn by great inner strife
Come to the decision to take their own life
But the majority value life as a great thing
And to the greatest of all gifts to the end they do cling
For many today it will be their last day
We must die for others we have to make way.
