The Clouds Are Always Dark-In-Color Poem by Ali Saser

The Clouds Are Always Dark-In-Color

Today is a bright shiny day and the clouds are clear.
So clear in the sense that they are almost transparent…
… letting 85% of the sunlight goes through them.
So clear that I can't even see they move, gently …
… carrying the ever increasing weight of water they contain.

But I know it very well, that sooner or later,
those clouds will turn into their true color, dark,
and releasing the rain onto anyone who shed under them.

And it's amazing how the rain can bring sorrow and misery
to the people whose souls have been waiting for the clouds
to burst the tears.

Then the souls are drowned by the river of their own hopes.

But still, they hope for the other clouds
-"the brighter clouds, " they say-
to bring another falls of rain
to shower their hearts
and to start dreaming once more.

Yet, ‘till they wake up from their dreams,
they'll always dream a false dream,
Coz they'll never know,
…. The clouds are always dark-in-color.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this one 3 days after my neighbour's daughter died in a car accident. I used to have some feelings towards the girl but never had a chance to say them. And those three days before the writing of this poem, really make me delve in an endless frustration.
