'The Clown' Poem by David Bennett

'The Clown'

Rating: 4.3

Its sometimes hard to play the clown,
Their is pathos and there are tears,
Beneath that happy made up face,
He hides behind his tears,
He jokes about to make you laugh,
He stumbles and you cheer,
Some children do laugh and some do cry,
Some children are really frightened
For he is not to everybodys likeness
But all he does is do his job,
Though often he is not cheerful,
Maybe he would not laugh himself,
At other clowns because he knows its fearful!
So please understand the clown, that he may frown,
Beneath that cheerful happy face,
There are tears and there are fears!

Wow is all I can say. Just, wow. I love this poem. It's so incredibly powerful, with words of innocence.9/10, easily. This poem is truly magnificent. I love it.
