The Coffee Table Poem by John Ackerman

The Coffee Table

God gives eternal life to those whose lives have no sin. But not one person can ever meet this requirement. God knows this, and he loves us so much that he sent his son Jesus to erase our sins forever. The funny thing is that God will not force eternal life upon you if you do not want it. You must first repent the things you know you've done wrong, and ask Jesus to forgive you for them. Jesus is faithful and true; He will forgive you when you ask him to. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you. friend, eternal life is yours, just ask for it!

TheCoffee Table

we built a coffee table, you and me
thirty plus years in construction, we built with care
We made the foundation sure and strong. Nothing's wrong
Forever molding it to our needs, its respect
We used it well: pumpkin pie, soda and life changing stories
The years go by fast, we etched in our marks
of spots, stains and scrathes. Regardless, who sees a defect?

Why we threw that coffee table down the river that day, who can say?
The river had its way, the remains busted and broken
Comfort ruined now, needs great repair
coziness gone, no longer fits us
Awkward and useless you thought we should hide it away
Ever again, can it see the light of day?

How I miss our coffeee table
Nothing else around, nothing compares, our design was priceless
foundation, is it strong?
Repairs will be costly: time, commitment and sacrifices
let's bring it out, you and me; we'll fix her
