The Color Red Poem by Moth Harris

The Color Red

Tied red ribbon around my face
Tried to savor the taste
but red reminded me of a dream
So I decided to scream at a nightmarish thought
I got what I got and that's all that I got
I'm not what you want, I haunt and taunt myself
To be a new and better version of me
Constantly, I saw how I used to bleed
The need to constantly push myself
Lead to this terrible health
I cough up what's left for dead
and in my head I see shadows
and ghosts and skeletons in my closet
grabbing me and pulling me in
So I pulled out my six shot gun
and I did not run, decided to have some fun
and when I was done the mess spelled out my name
and when I was done it was all the same as it started
So I darted from this place
Tied red ribbon around my face
