The Colour Of Evening Poem by Ahamad Ilyaas Vilayathullah

The Colour Of Evening

Darkness and loneliness...
There are all kinds of noises....
Little reptiles, homeward bound evening birds...
The droopy leaves of the gooseberry trees...
The landscape around and the skyscape above
Have assumed the same colour...
The sky and the earth have shaken hands
And become one...
What has happened to their diverse colours...?
Where have gone the hues?
So various till now, where are they now?
Allah's colour-sense!
Has anyone else a better sense of colours?
The diverse colours that my senses gorged on
Are spent in full...
I am left with just one colour now...
Everything else is its light or intense shades...
How stupid is me to regret the loss
Of the diverse colours of the cool
Sunny October day!
Can any think of a better colour pattern
For the world around me
This late evening hour?
