For the cold and hungry polar bear
Bright white is the dominant colour.
Living in an Antarctica clime,
Ice-bound and lonely...he sees no other
Excepting red blood from a recent kill
And the warm-glowing fur of his mother.
The dark grey coat of a whale or seal
Oft' catches his prey-spotting eye
But his world is virtually a palid-toned place
Until the onset of summer's blue sky.
On grasses beneath him, he then will feed.
'Oh poor Polar bear' we say with a sigh.
