The Conker



I drove the road through silver autumn sun
The endless line of moving metal snaked behind
Huge green tinged church tower trees shaded the way
And as I Glimpsed across I saw it there
Fallen from its spiky shell and gleaming against the stark grey path
I stopped the car and picked it up
Deafened by the screeching horns and angry shouts
It was a beauty, a cutie, shining brown booty
And it was mine
I drove off with a childish smile
And the traffic flowed once more
