The Cossacks Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Cossacks

Who are the Cossacks,
Where are they from,
Where is their land?
How their society, art and culture
Of the Cossacks,
The Cossacks?

Their folk songs, dances and arts,
Love of the military and military spirit,
Chivalry,
Traditional houses,
Horse-trading
Still steal the canvas from,
An ethnocultural folk which
Really served the Czars
And are conventional Russians.

The Cossacks boys and girls also on horse-back
Racing with the clatter of hooves,
Dust swirling
With the horseshoes upping
And falling
And going with never seen before,
Their equestrian prowess,
Acrobatic skills, what to say about,
Their military, soldierly spirit?

Russian and Balachka, the tongues
With their Ukrainian folk culture,
Are but chivalrous people
Undaunted in their bravery,
So warring and skilled
As born military men
Whatever be the theories
Doing the rounds
About their origin.
