The Counter Poem by Rafik Romdhani

The Counter

Head, lean some more over the counter
People, like you, around you are burning inside now
'Cos hell won't burn all
Many things need repair
Head, I ripped off the heart and will this winter
Bury it under the sea
I beg you to always be
My center instead, head
This life moansto wind like all branches
But wind wrings all wenches
They change like wind to wind
The result is an encounter with any counter
To talk to your thoughts like a fiend
Perhaps spit on the bar mirror
Like a stranger at the bitter bottom of despair
So, never give a damn, head
If they laugh at you and me.
Just lean over the counter of life
Break all barriers between you and me
Dream if you want to
Burn like charcoal, too
But try not to answer all my questions
I am a gullible fool with a knife
Just lean over the counter
And voyage out of this world
