The Cross Set Me Free Poem by Christian Pettigrew

The Cross Set Me Free

God, I know you hear me.
God, I know you see me.
God, will I ever be okay?
Sometimes the tears roll down my face,
And I just can't keep the pace.
And I can't finish the race.
Will it be today that I die?
Or will I remain under this temporal sky?
The enemy yells at me,
And sometimes just enough I can't see.
As my heart bleeds,
I sometimes forget you're all I need.
Even as my worries and anxieties,
They pile on and become too much to bear.
But I know I have nothing to fear.
As you look down upon me,
I can see,
That the cross was meant to set me free.
