The Cruel Flood Poem by Phil Smith

The Cruel Flood

Brown clouds rose in the east
Thunder rolled across the plains
A storm was fast approaching
The village was in it's path

A bugle announced it's arrival
Blue coats flooded the village
Red rivers flowed wide
Women and children shown no mercy

Screams filled the air
Tepees burning down
People running everywhere
Looking for a place to hide

Cruelty flooded the village
Arrows couldn't stop the flow
Another tribe decimated
Engulfed by the cruel flood
