The Damage Is Done Poem by Aisha Love

The Damage Is Done

She was broken, broken beyond repair.
He was smiling, eyes full of despair..
Yes he broke her,
no he did not care. He cared more for someone else...
He cared for himself,
and the damage her tears had brought.
Yes she was broken, no he did not care
but there was something else there.
Her hurt became his hurt,
the broken glass of her heart pierced the shattered walls of his mind.
He could no longer think,
all he saw was her face.
The disappointment, the anger, the loss in her eyes.
She became lost, no one could find her,
although she was in plain sight.
He was the only one who could see her,
but he never tried.
No matter how much she wanted,
she knew he would never open his eyes.
Yes she was broken and no it wasn't fair,
but just as she was broken so was he.
It was too late for them both,
the damage had already been done.
