I grew up in the midwest
where the air was fresh and clean.
Small-town living was at it's best
and life was so serene.
The calmness of this city life
was just not right for me...
So I packed my band into a van
to go out and chase a dream.
We finalized our good-bye's
Friends waved as we passed by.
The band and I had opportunity
and it was time for us to fly.
We played the game from Champaign
and booked from here to there.
In search of fame..we made a name
while playing everywhere.
The band became my family
and the road turned into time.
I never got my name in the hall of fame
but I made the marquee sign.
Rock and Roll took it's toll
as the music filled my veins.
The Danville boy from Illinois
came back home again.
I encourage music
and if music is what you love.
Then go ahead chase that dream
for it's a gift from up above.
