The Dark Screen Poem by Lance Carthen

The Dark Screen

I can see my face on the big t.v.
Smiling with bloodstained lips
For the whole world to see
I see all your little faces
Staring back at me
Wishing to escape hostile conformity
To pledge allegiance to being free
Hello America youve just entered..
The dark screen
They eat you up then spit you out
Because you wont be their taste
But they'll make you their god
Give you their scars until their smiles go fake
Screaming out too, the demons in your mind
Theres nowhere to turn, nowhere to hide
Peeling back your eyelids just to find
The dark screen in all of us is what makes the confused blind

The anticipation grows near
