The Darkness Within Poem by Pushpinder Kaur

The Darkness Within

Rating: 4.0

The Darkness within

The days' reckonings
go piling on
each day brings new events-
Daily occurrences
Seem to push you out of sight

But no mother-
There is
such a big wide world
somewhere inside the mind
that I just have to turn my thoughts within
And there you are…
Always there
I can visit you as and when I want-

Deep within the darkness of the mind
the abysmal darkness
the consciousness or the collective consciousness
or the deep crevices of the sub-conscious
I know not;
I can see you slowly walking
praying, talking softly
Looking at me-
Your absence becoming your presence.

Yet sometimes,
at times
from nowhere- comes this feeling
of emptiness, like something very basic lost,
Physically not there
nowhere within reach-
And shall never be;

And then I close my eyes and reach the darkness within
And there you are…
