The Day Poem by Sreeda Prasad

The Day

Rating: 3.0

Fear is a seed
That grows with age.
A climber
Creeping through spine
Embracing the nerves.
It's movements numb
The body cells
He says,
It's the fear of losing him.
They say,
Its the age.
I know its not
Now i am here
Before the mirror
As naked as you see
There you are, staying still
Looking deep into my eyes.
You smile.
You see my fear.
My fear is You.
The day when you come up
with that verdict
A victim or a martyr
You will choose
The end of mine.
Helplessness engulfs my soul.
You smile.
You know all the answers
And i know they are
Growing insidemy womb
Freezing my brain
I smell death.
