The Day I Really Died Poem by Angela Gaines

The Day I Really Died

I thought that I was sleeping
lying there upon the floor.
The strength of my being deepening
as I got to heavens door

Up the golden stairs I trod
trying not to cry
when then and there I saw my God
and that my eyes were dry

I knew not what was happening
but as silent days went by
I now look back upon that day
The Day I Really Died
