The Day Of The World Is Done Poem by Rex-mayor Ubini

The Day Of The World Is Done

…and suddenly
Before lashes could blink
Before eyes agape to stair
Shock slaps the face of being
The silver waves wave into a thin air
The earth pants, she pants
Not permitted to faint
Not permitted to kick the pale
All her actions pause
With stolen hope to resume work
All flying creatures crash down
Off the head of heads fall crown
At the appearance of a cloud of glory
Immortal wings wind the sky
With a silent deafening cry
Such no ear has ever heard
The earth is in her labo’r
Woe! Woe! The wail of deeds
Suppress the cry of joy
Is done!
The day of the world is done!
Where no sin can repent
Where no journey can return
If grace would wake me up
And I can see the day has not come
I must prepare
Lest am taken unaware.
