The Day You Left Poem by Katie Obrien

The Day You Left

You departed this world on February first, and that pain i felt it really was the worst.

The moment you took your final breath... in a way I was relieved, you where finally at rest!

Im glad I got to say goodbye, that the world wasn't too cruel.

You fought hard and long enough, so you could hear all we had to say to you.

It broke my heart to leave that day, cause I knew things would never be there same.

I had the chance to see you first... my heart exploded! You looked so good!

You'll never understand how much you are missed, and how we wish we could give you just one more kiss.

We visit your resting place, but not your home,
Because when I enter through those doors, I feel so alone.

I know this isn't goodbye, but that doesn't mean I will not cry.
But for now, I'll continue to live my life,
Hoping you'll be by my side.
